Joining the AARP: The younger, the better

By Na Lin

AARP (the American Association of Retired Persons),a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that helps people turn their goals and dreams into real possibilities, strengthens communities and fights for the issues that matter most to families such as healthcare, employment security and retirement planning. No wonder some people received invitations from AARP when they are still 20-years-old.

Squirrels are animals that store nuts for the winter… two months before winter comes! There are twelve months in a year, and two months means one sixth of a year. Let’s assume we all lived until 80 years of age. One sixth of eighty is 13.33333… Therefore, we should all start to prepare for our old age lives by 13!

If you don’t mind losing to a squirrel, please ignore what I have said.

No doubt that we better think more of the possible problems which could happen afterwards. If so, whom should we work with in this aspect? The AARP, of course! Why? Because the AARP has a membership of more than 37 million people. The US population in 2012 was nearly 313 million, which means there is one out of every ten people who is using the AARP’s service. Again, if you don’t mind to being an outsider or you are very sure you have less than 10 friends, please ignore what I have said.

The AARP is also “a trusted source for lifestyle tips, news and educational information,” and produces AARP The Magazine, the world’s largest circulation magazine; AARP Bulletin; www.; AARP TV & Radio; AARP Books; and AARP VIVA, a bilingual news source.” You can get all the information you need by only subscribing one company. If you are the kind of person who enjoys slowly pacing to the store to buy a newspaper, please ignore what I have said.

If you have absolutely no interest in making future plans and have confidence that you will never regret not joining in AARP, please ignore what I have said.
